Release Notes

By Arnel Hasanovic

In May 2022, we released several new updates like Auto-deploy, Chrome Extension enhancements, Templates, Webflow Trigger, and others. On top of that, we have also fixed 34 bugs, making the product more robust for our users.

Let’s learn about these new features and updates in detail.

Updates

Templates - Create Flow from Templates

Initially, when you had to create a new flow, you were required to begin from scratch. You were required to add nodes and then configure them.

Byteline has introduced Templates. Now you can select a required template as per your need and configure it. All you need to do is to click on the “Build Your Flow” button from the template you want to use, and you will be redirected to the Flow Designer. This will prevent you from the hassle of adding each and every node to build your automation.

Auto-deploy

Initially, whenever a change was made in the flow, you were required to deploy the flow before running a test. This means each time you make even a small change in the flow; you have to deploy the flow.

But with the addition of a new feature in the form of “Auto-deploy”, you need not deploy the flow each time you make a change. All you need to do is to check the Auto-deploy option, and the flow will be deployed automatically with each change.

Note: You can uncheck the box to disable the Auto-deploy feature.

The flows are now sorted according to the updated date

Initially, the flows were not used to be sorted in a certain order. So whenever you have to find a certain flow, you had to look through all your flows. But with this update, now the flows are sorted according to the date they had been created or updated. In simple words, the latest flow will be on the top.

Webflow Trigger Support

The Webflow trigger will be invoked whenever a Webflow CMS item is either created or updated. This is an instant trigger. It means whenever the data is changed on the Webflow this trigger will be invoked immediately and this will run the flow.

Successful tasks now have an option to reach for help

There can be a scenario when the task is successful but the data is not as expected, or there can be some doubts you want to clear, or you simply want to add some comments for various other purposes.

For this, Byteline has added a new feature in the form of Request Assistance. Request Assistance allows you to add comments anytime you want for an immediate resolution.

Chrome extension enhancement

Chrome extension has undergone a major enhancement for a whole new user experience. Now there will be a background color for the list elements or the repeating elements. In simple words, the whole list will be highlighted on selecting an element from that list. This lets you see the selected list to confirm that the right repeating element is picked.

The field mapper should show a warning if no matching field is set

After this update, if no matching field is set, you will receive a warning message. The reason behind the same is that if you are not setting a unique or matching field, it will not be possible to locate the matching records in your app e.g., Webflow, Airtable, etc. So it will be impossible for Byteline to figure out whether the record already exists or not. In this case, all the records will be created, resulting in possible duplicates.

In order to prevent this from happening, you must set a matching field by clicking on the key icon next to the field (Link, Title, location, etc.) you want.

Support XML to JSON conversion in the transform node

Now it becomes easier to transform data between formats as Byteline has added support for converting XML data to JSON format.

34 bug fixes

Lastly, Byteline has fixed over 34 bugs in the May 2022 release to make the platform more stable and user-friendly.
